After a long season it was time for the Dartfordians Senior Club to come together to celebrate all that was good from the 2022/23 season.
90+ packed into the clubhouse hall feasting on the, always great, curry from chef Steve Taylor and his kitchen crew and kept hydrated by Megan and the great team behind the bar. Huge thanks to both for the great food and drink served up throughout the season, along with the social events that are always well supported.
With the food out the way the speeches began with a run through from the club's Chairman, Jarrod Lawrence and followed by captains from the Saints/Vets, Demons, Women 1s and Mens 1s.
Staggy led the way with a brilliant speech covering the league winning season for the Saints and the cup run for the Vets. He had the room in fits of laughter and was a difficult one to follow.
However, JOB did a great job along with Sally who used her sign language skills to bring John's speech alive - another excellent speech following on from a decent season for the Demons and there is lots to be hopeful for next season with much young talent getting started in senior rugby.
Kiera, then led the way for the Womens team and mentioned something about playing a Twickenham a few weeks before - had anyone heard? A great turn out from the womens team and it was really good to see all the guests listening intently to the speech and given the women a huge round of applause.
Sam Cooksley finished off the captains speeches covering the 1s season and covering the great work done by Jarlath Hetherington and Lewis Potter, along with the rest of the squad, since the turn of the year and with David Cheng and Chris Spedding on the coaching team. Some really positive rugby played since the new year culminating in the Papa Johns cup run where the team reached the final, played at the StoneX, where ther were pipped by Beaconsfield.
Jarrod closed off the formal proceedings with the Clubman award and club song - congratulations to all of the well deserved winners....Enjoy the summer and here's to the 2023/24 100th Anniversary season.....
