In tough, blustery conditions, Dartfordians U16 Girls Rugby team delivered a commanding performance against Beccs Valley, sealing an impressive 52-5 victory. Despite the swirling wind and slippery surface, the team overcame the elements with strong teamwork, excellent ball handling, and sharp running lines.

With 13-a-side due to the conditions, Dartfordians started well, retaining possession early on. After a back-and-forth battle for control in the opening minutes, Dartfordians were awarded a scrum, and from that platform, Miley powered over for the first try of the game. A 5-0 lead quickly became 10-0 as Miley showcased her brilliant footwork, scoring her second try, although Anna's kicks were hampered by the strong wind.

Dartfordians continued to press, capitalizing on Beccs Valley’s handling errors. The worsening weather didn’t stop Chloe from extending the lead with a determined run to make it 15-0. Martha and Miley caused Beccs Valley's defense all kinds of problems with their powerful running, and despite more handling errors from both sides, Ife managed to break through for another try, putting Dartfordians 20-0 up.

With momentum fully behind them, Dartfordians increased the pressure. Chloe, with a fantastic dummy, broke the line once again for their fifth try, and Anna finally added a well-deserved conversion, bringing the score to 27-0. However, Beccs Valley responded with a intercept pass and a full-pitch sprint to score, making it 27-5 as the first half wound down.

In the second half, Dartfordians made substitutions, bringing on fresh legs with Tiff and Niamh replacing Miley and Amelie. Dartfordians wasted no time, with Martha darting into the corner to extend their lead to 32-5. Despite a knock-on close to the line and a high tackle from Beccs Valley resulting in a sin bin, Dartfordians kept up their relentless attack. Martha’s strong run saw her score again, followed by Chloe breaking through for yet another try under the posts, stretching the score to 42-5.

Beccs Valley regained full strength, but Dartfordians remained in control. A penalty to Beccs Valley slowed Dartfordians’ momentum briefly, but a superb effort from Darcey over the line pushed the score to 47-5. As the game neared its conclusion, Martha capped off a stellar performance with a final surge, crossing the line to bring Dartfordians past the 50-point mark.

The final whistle blew with Dartfordians securing a dominant 52-5 win, showcasing their skill and teamwork in challenging conditions. Another fine performance leaves the team brimming with confidence as they continue their league campaign.
