Match Report: Dartfordians U16 Girls vs Tunbridge Wells U16 Girls – Kent League

Reporters Nick Tremain & Phil Vickery.

Dartfordians U16 Girls continued their incredible form with a commanding 62-12 win over Tunbridge Wells, securing their place as Conference B champions and advancing to Division One for a shot at the Kent League title.

First Half
The match began with a surprising twist as Tunbridge Wells, fielding a reduced squad, took an early lead after capitalising on a midfield interception to score and convert, making it 0-7. This marked the first time Dartfordians had trailed this season, sparking an early wake-up call.

The team responded quickly, with Martha recovering a loose ball from a scrum to set up Miley for Dartfordians’ first try. Anna’s reliable boot leveled the score at 7-7. Momentum shifted in Dartfordians’ favour when Kasey broke free on the wing for a stunning try in the corner, followed by another brilliant passage of play that saw Maia cross under the posts. With Anna adding the extras, the home side surged ahead 19-7.

A dominating performance in the scrum and strong defensive pressure paved the way for more points. Chloe, Miley, and debutant Tash added further tries, showcasing Dartfordians’ attacking depth and teamwork. By halftime, Dartfordians led 55-12, with Anna’s consistent conversions adding to the commanding lead.

Second Half
The second half began with Dartfordians maintaining control, despite a more fragmented game marked by handling errors from both sides. Ola’s try from a turnover sealed the final score at 62-12, with Anna once again converting. Tunbridge Wells showed resilience, adding a second try in the second half, but Dartfordians' dominance proved unrelenting.

The referee concluded the match early due to the league's 50-point protocol, confirming Dartfordians’ unbeaten campaign in Conference B.

Post-Match Thoughts
While the scoreline highlights Dartfordians' attacking brilliance, the team will focus on ironing out moments of complacency and improving consistency ahead of the challenges in Division One. The victory not only cements their status as the team to beat but also sets the stage for an exciting next phase of the season.

Congratulations to Dartfordians U16 Girls on a remarkable league campaign—here’s to more success in Division One!
