Code of conduct for club officials, coaches and volunteers
The essence of good ethical conduct and practice is summarised below. All volunteers must:
)Adhere to the rules of The Club and follow all guidelines laid down by the national governing body and the club relating to Child Welfare.
)Consider the well-being and safety of participants before the development of performance. Ensure there is responsible supervision and that appropriate medical and first aid cover is always available.
)Develop an appropriate working relationship with performers, based on mutual trust and respect. Involve young people in the decision making process where appropriate.
4) Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part
)Promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play, respect, enjoyment and sportsmanship.)
)Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance
)Hold the appropriate, valid qualifications and insurance cover
)Never exert undue influence over performers to obtain personal benefit or reward.
)Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibitive substances
)Encourage participants to value their performances and not just results
)Encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.
)Ensure that all equipment and facilities are safe and appropriate for the needs of the coaches and young players.
)Ensure that the club’s coaching/playing programme adheres to the RFU guidelines and doesn’t expose young players to over playing and training.
